Doug Mohns was born in 1933 in Capreol, Ontario.
Inaugural team captain of the Washington Capitals (1974–75). Served 19 years as an executive at New England Rehabilitation Hospital, Woburn, MA — his No. 19 jersey was raised to the ceiling there. Bruins 'Historic 100' (2023). 'Scooter Line' (Chicago, 1964–71) with Stan Mikita and Ken Wharram. One of the first NHL players to wear a helmet. 7-time NHL All-Star (1954, 1958, 1959, 1961, 1962, 1965, 1972). First defenseman in Bruins history to score 20 goals in a season (1959–60). Co-founded the Dianne DeVanna Center, Braintree, MA.
He had 2 children. He died in 2014 in Reading, Massachusetts.
