Where the record begins
August Mohns
1831–1897
August is the earliest ancestor this archive can name. No photograph of him survives and little is yet known of his life, but from him descend 575 people across 7 generations recorded here — a living family that gathers, in part, at the reunion held in his name.

The reunion generation
The eight children of Frederick and Pauline
August’s son Frederick (1859–1924) and his wife Pauline (1867–1966) carried the name forward through eight children. Every branch recorded in this archive descends from the two of them, and they are the great-great-grandparents of most who attend our family reunion today.

Frederick & Pauline’s family, in portrait
Photographs handed down through the generations, showing the family that gathered around Frederick and Pauline more than a century ago.

Untraced lines
August had six other children
Their descendants would be cousins to those who attend our reunion. We have records of their names and dates, but the lines that come down from each of them have not yet been traced into this archive.
If you are descended from one of them — or know who is — we’d be grateful for whatever you can share.
