Wayne Barnes

Wayne Barnes was born in 1949 in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. He worked as a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer from 1970 to 1985. He later worked as a Correctional Officer in Pembroke, Ontario from 1986 to 1996, then in Ottawa, Ontario from 1996 to 2007. His true passion was playing the guitar and sharing his music. Barely a day went by without him picking up one of his guitars to strum and sing. He had a deep love for spending time on the Ottawa River, and travelling in the RV with his family. His grandchildren knew him as Poppa. He married Cathy Beland in 1974. They had 4 children together. He died in 2023 in Petawawa, Ontario.
